I’m Kim Colthurst, a retired Graphic Designer and illustrator who began weaving in 2017. I’ve spent countless hours exploring books, videos, and experimenting to master new techniques and skills in this timeless craft. I use a variety of looms and supplies to create unique pieces and large commissions. I’m excited to share my knowledge and help other creative souls create their best work and feel confident in their abilities.

Commissions are a huge part of what I do professionally, and I’ve created some of my most cherished pieces for clients! I’m excited to share that I’ll be teaching Advanced Tapestry - Painting with Wool sometime in 2027. You’ll learn how I bring larger pieces to life, like these, through color blending and advanced stitching.

Even the simplest designs can be incredibly sophisticated! These pieces below were woven on a simple rigid heddle loom. I’m developing a class on this type of loom to teach you to create your own modern table runner from start to finish. Keep an eye out for this class in 2027.
